Weekly Photo Challenge: All The Leaves Are Gone
In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Gone, But Not Forgotten.”
“Show us something that is lost, but not forgotten.”
I have collected a few interesting silhouettes of winter trees. The leaves have gone. The warm sun has been replaced by a more frigid light. They are not forgotten as we know they will return next spring.
All the leaves were brown,
orange, red and yellow.
Now, most of them have fallen,
Mulched or blown away.
Now winter is here.
Misty mornings and bare branches.
Sky is grey and cold.
Feeling blue without morning sun.
Short days pass without feeling.
By mid afternoon it’s over.
The bare sticks grasp at the sky.
The sun makes a hasty retreat to the horizon.
As the sun retires we can enjoy its’ last golden rays reflected in the sky.
Filling the sky with fire.
Before it’s dark.
